Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, Kuari Pass is a sight for the sore eyes. If
you are a beginner, then this would be the right one to start with. On the
way, there you will cross the beautiful forests with blooming oak &
rhododendron trees. The region gives a magical view of the snow-clad peaks
of Mount Nanda Devi, Dronagiri & some other peaks too. It is used
extensively by the local shepherds. The trek duration is around 6 days which
involves enough time for sightseeing. From Devprayag to Bhagirathi, the
Alakananda confluence, the trek to Kuari Pass winds up at Haridwar after
you reach there via Joshimath, the same route you took to reach Kuari Pass
top.
After the pickup from Haridwar Railway Station (Only if you book transportation with us) , we will begin our journey towards Joshimath. While capturing the beautiful views and stopover at Devaprayag, to witness the holy confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda Rivers. The road goes along hugging the mountain side and you see the forests and valleys of Garhwal below you. Then we will reach Joshimath and stay there overnight. Note: You need to report at Joshimath by evening on day 1 if not opt for Sharing/private cab with us .
Day 2 begins with a short drive towards Dhak village which is around 11 km from Joshimath. Dhak Village has few grocery stores and some dhabas as well. The trail goes through a series of level walks and gradual ascents along farms. Look below to watch the Dhauli Ganga River force its way to the nearby hydro power plant. Follow the trail to cross dense forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendrons. At the end of the descent is Chitrakantha, our first twilight camping site. This is an impressive snow-capped ridge with views of the Chaukhamba
peak.
We will start our day early with little warm up & acclimatization followed by a wholesome breakfast. An interesting and magnificent trail taking you through dense mountain forests filled with rhododendrons, spruce, and silver birch before reaching a prominent ridge. The forest is so dense that hardly any sunlight reaches in. The Tali forest camp is around 40 minutes ahead on this trail. The campsite is located right in the middle of the forest, with a stream flowing close by. You are surround by tall trees on all sides
Now this is going to be a strenuous day so, be prepared. We have a long way to go towards Khullar and to savour the mystic views of the imposing Himalayas, we will traverse over snow-filled patches to arrive at Kuari Pass. WE will be greeted by the gushing chilled wind waves. Gushing chill top winds greet you here. But the adversity is barely a hindrance for the view of the towering Nanda Devi Peak from here is truly phenomenal. We will be then surrounded by an unending wall of mountains. On the way find the Rishi Ganga River force on its way from the only available outlet to meet River Alaknanda. Spend quality time here. Prepare for a return trek to Tali Top along the same path and settle down under warmth of twilight camping.
On day 5th we will follow the downhill trail alongside the Rishi Ganga River. Arrive at a motorable road and board vehicle to reach Joshimath. Along the way pass by Auli, a popular hill station and a very renown skiing destination. During winter months, you could also opt for a skiing experience here. Finally, overnight stay at Joshimath.
Someone has rightly said, Nothing stays forever. And same is the case with our trekking expedition and we have to say good bye. Though we can definitely meet up in our next trek if the adventure bug bites you
again.
